Portrait Commission Terms:
Pet Portraits for Compassion are custom, hand-created artworks commissioned in support of Tails Beyond Borders Foundation.
As a custom-commissioned artwork created in support of our charitable mission, availability is limited and fulfillment times may vary.
Each portrait is individually hand-drawn in ink by artist Elizabeth Wheeler based on the photo(s) provided by the purchaser.
Portraits are original artistic interpretations created in the artist's unique style and are not intended to be exact photographic reproductions. Variations in color, composition, artistic style, and level of detail are inherent to commissioned artwork and do not constitute defects.
Please provide clear, high-quality reference photographs. The quality and accuracy of the final portrait depend on the quality of the images submitted.
Reference photos must depict a pet that you own or have permission to submit for a commissioned portrait.
After completing your purchase, please email your pet photo(s) to info@tailsbeyondborders.org and include your order number in the subject line.
Portrait commissions cannot begin until we receive the reference photos.
Only four portrait commissions are accepted each month to ensure every piece receives the care and attention it deserves.
Estimated completion time is 4–8 weeks or longer, depending on artist availability, order volume, holidays, shipping conditions, or circumstances beyond our control.
Portraits are created in ink using the artist's preferred techniques and artistic style. Size and presentation details may vary unless otherwise specified in the product description.
Orders may be canceled for a full refund before work begins. Once work has begun, commissions are non-refundable.
Due to the custom nature of commissioned artwork, returns and exchanges are not accepted.
One reasonable minor revision request may be accommodated at the artist's discretion at no additional charge. Additional revisions may require an additional fee or may not be possible. Significant redesigns, changes of subject, or replacement photographs after work has begun may not be possible.
Portrait commissions are currently available only to customers with shipping addresses within the United States.
The commission price includes the completed portrait artwork and U.S. shipping only. Frames, mats, display stands, and any other display accessories are not included.
Shipping within the United States is included in the commission price.
If artwork arrives damaged during shipping, please contact us within 7 days of delivery and provide photographs of the damage. Tails Beyond Borders Foundation will review the circumstances and determine an appropriate resolution at its discretion.
Risk of loss passes to the purchaser upon delivery by the shipping carrier. Tails Beyond Borders Foundation is not responsible for loss, theft, delay, misdelivery, or damage occurring after delivery has been confirmed by the shipping carrier.
Tails Beyond Borders Foundation reserves the right to decline or cancel any commission request that is inappropriate, unlawful, abusive, or inconsistent with the organization's mission and values.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tails Beyond Borders Foundation's liability arising from a portrait commission shall not exceed the amount paid for the commission.
Under no circumstances shall Tails Beyond Borders Foundation be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from a portrait commission.
Unless the purchaser requests otherwise in writing before the portrait is completed, Tails Beyond Borders Foundation and the artist may display completed portraits for portfolio, educational, promotional, or fundraising purposes.
The purchaser represents that they own or have permission to use any photographs submitted for the commission and agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Tails Beyond Borders Foundation and the artist from claims arising from unauthorized use of submitted images.
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, all copyrights in the artwork remain with the artist. The purchaser receives ownership of the physical artwork only and may use images of the artwork for personal, non-commercial purposes.
Net proceeds from portrait commissions support the charitable mission and programs of Tails Beyond Borders Foundation, including animal welfare initiatives and organizational operations necessary to carry out that mission.
Pet Portraits for Compassion are fundraising items offered in support of Tails Beyond Borders Foundation. Because purchasers receive a custom portrait in exchange for payment, all or part of the purchase price may not be tax-deductible. Tails Beyond Borders Foundation does not provide tax advice. Please consult your tax advisor regarding your individual circumstances.
By purchasing a portrait, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these terms.
